Frank Jones keeps a shop and believes strongly in his country and government. Then his son, a linguist and translator for British Intelligence, falls from a roof and dies. The answers to Frank's questions don't quite fit, and his subsequent probing plunges him into a world of espionage, spies and counterspies. Frank's search takes him to the top level of government and intelligence. There he learns that not only are things different than they seem, but that he is just a pawn in a deadly game of international chess.
